The R&D Scientist is responsible for developing and implementing assays pertinent to the Oncology and Women’s Health programs. This includes research, assay development, test validation, and quality control leading to the commercialization of diagnostic testing services using various molecular methods including PCR, array CGH, array resequencing, multiplex PCR, capillary sequencing, pyrosequencing, gene expression, DNA methylation, etc. The successful candidate will collaborate with other R&D scientists of the BioReference Team to create synergies and efficiencies, as well as crossover applications for various platforms and technologies. They may also assist in hiring and training lab personnel in their area.

• Responsible for timely and accurate development and implementation of innovative assays
• Liaise with lab operations for scale-up and workflow recommendations
• Recommend acquisition of new technologies that would lead to new product applications
• Work closely with Intellectual Property personnel to secure proprietary positions on new product applications
• Publish data at scientific symposiums and in peer-reviewed journals

Skills:

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related science field
• At least 2 yrs experience in PCR, microarrays, and other molecular based DNA and RNA technologies is a must
• Experience in bioinformatics related to molecular diagnostics is helpful
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated project management skills, goal-setting, prioritizing
