Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Program Administrator will work extensively with the Chief Executive Officer of the Executive Office to assist in identifying and supporting AACR’s translational research initiatives and constituencies.  The incumbent will support the work of several current and future task forces and work with chairs and other AACR members to assist them in achieving their goals.
 
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with the Chief Executive Officer in developing scientific programs and in communicating with committee and task force chairs and their members to determine the nature and scope of assigned programs 
• Works with the Meetings and Exhibits Department in the coordination of logistics and in developing schedules for assigned meetings
• Creates and develops promotional materials for assigned scientific meetings 
• Assists the Executive Office with activities related to special conferences and scientific workshops
• Assists the Chief Executive Officer with systems development and project management activities
• Performs essential duties and other tasks as assigned
 
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
• Experimental therapeutics, pharmacology or pharmacogenomics background
• Translational researcher with basic science or clinical experience
• Pharmaceutical industry knowledge
• Pharmaceutical or drug development background
• Experience working with clinicians
• Scientific and technical writing skills
 
Education and Training:
• Advanced degree required
• Ph.D. in clinical or basic research
• Expertise/knowledge of translational research

Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
• Hands-on knowledge of current laboratory technologies
• Expertise/knowledge of genetics and the human genome/epigenome
• Knowledge of pharmacogenomics research
• Knowledge of how drugs are developed and validated
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate and interact with individuals at various levels, particularly basic scientists and clinician investigators
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with grants and funding processes
 
Technical Knowledge:
• Ability to identify and extract research data on drugs, genes and diseases from the literature
• PC, Microsoft Word, Lotus Notes, Excel and Access
 
Work Experience:
• Two years of experience in the areas of translational research involving pharmacology and experimental therapeutics, and/or research in other related areas.
