Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY: 
Provides supports the Assistant Director of Scientific Administration scientific in reviewing and administrating the grant review and administration process for the Stand Up To Cancer Initiative (SU2C).  Assists the Director in the oversight and administration of the SU2 Cancer grants review and evaluation process.  Assists in the production of reports and other related materials to be presented to the Scientific Advisory Committee. 
 
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists with the Stand Up To Cancer grant review, administration and evauation processes.
  • Assists in developing and executing a comprehensive tracking tool to monitor teameffectiveness of the and tracks effectiveness.
  • Writes grant program guidelines and application requirements.
  • Communicates both orally and in writing with grant applicants and recipients concerning eligibility issues, policy interpretations, or grant management matters.
  • Oversees grant application process and ensures compliance of applications with policies and procedures as set by the AACR.
  • Serves as staff liaison to multiple grant review committees of scientific experts; communicates both orally and in writing with grant review committees concerning review and selection processes; convenes review committee meetings and conference calls and drafts meeting reports.
  • Prepares grantees’ terms and conditions documents and obtains all administrative information necessary to support post-award administration.
  • Receives grant activity reports, refers them to the appropriate scientific review committees, and approves the distribution of cyclical grant payments.
  • Works closely with Department of Communications to publicize successful projects and grantees.
  • Works closely with Department of Development to recommend new funding vehicles and maintain relationships with funders.
  • Maintains professional contacts with granting agencies to obtain timely information on other cancer and biomedical research funding to relate to staff and leadership.
  • Serves as staff liaison to the ad hoc Grants Advisory Committee; arranges and participates in meetings and conference calls; and drafts meeting reports and minutes.
  • Participates in the development of the Annual Report.
  • Maintains comprehensive Website information.
  • Maintains accurate archival records.
  • Delegates and supervises work of staff assistants and contributes to their professional development.
  • Performs other essential tasks and duties required of the position in order to support the Director as needed.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 5 years of professional experience.
  • Strong management skills and supervisory experience in a multi-project environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High motivation with excellent judgment and well-developed analytic abilities.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Not-for-profit experience highly desired.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Experience within grant making organization or in grant management highly desired.
  • Experience with on-line grant application or management systems (such as proposalCENTRAL), or other relevant database driven systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office products.
  • Basic knowledge of web content management.
  • Fluency in language other than English a plus.
