Neuro-Oncology Position
The Neuro-Oncology Center and the Cancer Center at the University of Virginia seek candidates for a tenure-eligible or tenured faculty position. This new opportunity broadens the interdisciplinary research effort of the centers into the biology and therapy of primary brain tumors. The incumbent interacts closely with brain tumor researchers in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pathology, and Radiation Oncology as well as with the basic science departments within the University. Areas of potential interest include, but are not limited to, stem cells, tumor microenvironment, angiogenesis, cancer genetics, Oncology Research of primary brain tumors and drug delivery to the Central Nervous System. Rank and tenure status will be dependent on qualifications. Appointment in primary and secondary organizations will be established based on the applicants background and research interests.
A Ph.D. is required. Preference will be given to Physician Scientists who hold both an MD and Ph.D. A highly competitive laboratory start-up package as well as salary and fringe benefits is offered. To be considered for the tenured position, candidates must have an established research program and a strong national reputation.
