The Hanks Lab is a basic/translational research lab in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina with an interest in understanding cancer immune evasion and immunotherapy resistance. We are seeking a motivated, hardworking Post-Doctoral Candidate with a background in immunology to guide studies on the role of the tumor-intrinsic NLRP3 inflammasome in immune evasion and its impact on immunotherapy resistance in gastroesophageal cancer. This will be a two-year minimum position. The candidate will be expected to work independently but capable of collaborating with other lab members in a team-oriented work environment. - PhD Degree with a background in immunology preferred
- Experience in working with murine tumor models required
- Extensive experience performing tissue culture-based assays
- Experience in multi-parameter flow cytometry and in the design of cell-based assays
- Experience generating and analyzing bulk RNAseq transcriptional sequencing data
- Experience performing tissue immunohistochemistry/immufluorescence studies
- Experience and/or interest in generating mouse and human tumor organoids
- Previous grant writing experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with good organizational and analytical abilities
- Capable of working independently on assigned projects while thriving in a team-oriented environment
