Pediatric Oncology Researcher – Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Kentucky

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky invites applications for innovative clinician-scientists, physician-scientists and PhD investigators to join a growing Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. We seek passionate researchers dedicated to advancing the understanding, treatment, and prevention of childhood cancers.

Opportunities

  • Take advantage of the Markey NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center research infrastructure and state-of-the-art core facilities on our campus at the University of Kentucky.
  • Interact with other investigators at the recently-designated Golisano Children’s Hospital of Kentucky.
  • Build and lead independent or collaborative research programs supported by robust institutional resources.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary centers focused on cancer biology, cancer risk factors, survivorship, precision medicine, and experimental therapeutics.

Candidate Qualifications

  • MD, MD/PhD, or PhD with a strong record of scholarly achievement in pediatric oncology research.
  • The successful candidate will have at least three years of research experience and evidence of potential for growth as an investigator, supervisor and educator. The ideal candidate will have an established track record in conducting independent research, publishing novel scientific findings, and obtaining extramural funding.
  • The candidate will be responsible for:
    • engaging the research community, writing manuscripts, and submitting grant proposals.
  • supervising technical staff and directing students and/or post-doctoral fellows.
  • participating in departmental teaching and service activities, lecturing in areas of expertise, directing courses as appropriate, and developing new courses that may benefit the University.
  • publishing and presenting research at national and international meetings.
  • The faculty member will be expected to maintain an extramurally funded independent research program in compliance with University Governing and Administrative Regulations, Commonwealth Statutes, and other federal policies on the management of research.
