Scientist - Gene Therapy Program

The Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is seeking a full-time, research-focused, non-independent faculty research position at the Scientist level (Instructor of Pediatrics at HMS) at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). The successful candidate will work within an established laboratory and divisional research environment, while contributing substantial intellectual leadership to projects focused on B cell-mediated regulation of cancer immunity. The appointee will become a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School, and join a superb faculty with strengths in all aspects of pediatric hematology/oncology and gene therapy.

This position is intended for a senior scientist with significant postdoctoral and/or faculty-level research experience. The candidate should be able to independently design and execute experiments, supervise junior trainees or technical staff as appropriate, analyze and interpret complex datasets, contribute to manuscripts and grant applications, and help coordinate collaborative research efforts. The successful candidate will participate in teaching activities of postdoctoral trainees, students, fellows, and residents.

Applicants should have a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in immunology, cancer biology, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related discipline. A strong background in cancer immunology, B cell biology, tumor microenvironment biology, extracellular vesicles, antigen presentation, in vivo tumor models, flow cytometry, molecular biology, genetic engineering, or related approaches is highly desirable. Prior evidence of scientific productivity, including first-author and/or senior-author publications, is expected.

Preference will be given to candidates who have secured, or are eligible to secure, fellowship, foundation, philanthropic, or other extramural funding that can support, in part, their salary and/or research activities.

The Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center has a faculty numbering more than 140, with exceptional research and clinical programs in non-malignant hematology, hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, and neuro-oncology, a robust Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Program, Vascular Anomalies Center and world-leading Experimental Therapeutics and Gene Therapy Programs. $90,000 - $103,000 Annual Base Salary

The posted pay range is the Department of Pediatrics reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay estimate at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical/vision/dental coverage, back-up child-care, disability benefits, retirement plans, professional expense accounts, commuter and other employee discounts.
