Tenured / Tenure-Track Faculty Position – Open Rank
Department of Cellular & Molecular Medicine
Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM), Baptist Health South Florida, and Nicklaus Children's Hospital are building a cohort of accomplished biomedical researchers dedicated to advancing the mechanistic understanding of Cardiovascular Disease, Neuroscience, Oncology, and Orthopedics across the adult and pediatric disease continuum. Significant recent investments from these clinical partnerships, the State of Florida, and transformative philanthropy are converging to usher in a new era of biomedical research at Florida International University (FIU), creating an exceptional opportunity for faculty to establish ambitious collaborative research programs within a rapidly expanding academic medical center. HWCOM invites applications for full-time, tenure or tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor within the Department of Cellular & Molecular Medicine. We welcome investigators whose research directly addresses the disease areas identified above as well as those studying the fundamental principles governing cell, tissue, and organismal biology with clear relevance to mechanisms underlying these domains. Successful candidates will have an excellent record of research achievement commensurate with career stage, demonstrated capacity to collaborate within an interdisciplinary and interactive faculty, and a research program – basic, translational, or clinically-oriented – that publishes in major peer-reviewed journals and sustains independent extramural funding. Faculty will also be expected to contribute to the academic mission of the College of Medicine and the Department of Cellular & Molecular Medicine.

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at FIU stands at the forefront of integrating community-based medical education and clinical care, with a focus on training socially accountable scientists, physicians, and health professionals dedicated to community service. As an academic and clinical affiliate of Baptist Health and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, the HWCOM offers a unique environment for innovation and growth. The Department of Cellular & Molecular Medicine offers access to established core facilities including advanced bioimaging, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, and mitochondrial bioenergetics; an interdisciplinary cohort of institutional faculty and facilities; a collaborative scientific community anchored by the Department's graduate program in Biomedical Science; modern research space within FIU's newly constructed biomedical research campus; and highly competitive start-up and recruitment packages.
